Laying the Foundation Stone on Saturday 22nd July the Year 2000

A Special meeting of this Most Ancient Lodge was held here this morning, for the purpose of laying the Foundation Stone at the Monumental Sculpture in the Town Square, Main Street, Kilwinning. As well as the Mother Lodge Office Bearers and Brethren , Provincial Grand Master of Kilwinning Brother John A. Adrain, the Provincial Grand Master of Ayrshire, Brother John H Ralston and members of the Provinces of Kilwinning , Ayrshire and Lanarkshire Middle Ward were also in attendance with representatives of the following Lodges, Numbering, 5, 57, 86, 127, 128, 149, 198, 215, 290, 314, 331, 426, 505, 549, 556, 566, 579, 682, 1256, 1334, 1375, 1534, 1572, and 9454 E.C.

The R.W.M. welcomed everyone into the meeting and explained the format for the day. The lodge was then adjourned for the purpose of parade to the Town Square for Laying and Consecrating the Foundation Stone. The brethren assembled in the grounds of Kilwinning Abbey and thereafter paraded to the Town Square led by Mr. Jim Butler playing Pipe music appropriate for the occasion. On arrival we were met by Brother Andrew Jamieson representative of the Kilwinning Development Association who welcomed everyone who had come along this fine morning.

Bro. Thomas Wood R.W.M. opened the ceremony by saying, "We are assembled here this morning for the purpose of laying the Foundation Stone of this edifice according to Antient Masonic Custom, and I now call upon Brother Chaplain to lead us in prayer."
